To Magic or to not Magic

Apple's new Magic mouse seems really fantastic. I have been using Apple's Mighty Mouse for almost a year now and other than a few scroll wheel problems (always solved by speed scrolling by holding the mouse inverted), I have been really happy with the mouse. Meanwhile, I have also been hit by the multi-touch fever. The first gen Unibody MacBook Pro has me using the two finger and four-finger gestures regularly. The three finger gesture is really best used in Mail.app. (That reminds me, why aren't there more applications with support for the gestures?)

One of the few people who I believe gives serious thought to his hardware purchase is Marco Arment (of Instapaper/Tumblr fame). His experience with Magic Mouse has left me leaning towards purchasing it. However, as a graduate student, my disposable cash is limited, if not non-existent. And having a working wireless mouse makes me ponder about the purchase.

For now, I have decided to hold my purchase, until I get a good deal (Black Friday? Christmas?) I wait (im)patiently.

The worst things startups do (Scobleizer)

Robert Scoble has written a post on what are the signs of bad startups that are peppered all around the world. I agree with his list to a fair degree, especially the first one.
You don't have to splurge on real estate (unless your business demands it). IT companies need good healthy food, good healthy drinks, some fair amount of space, decent lighting and powerful machines to help engineers get their work done.
I personally am a sucker for engineering based companies. It certainly helps that I have an engineering background. But, there's something about us engineers that brings about this amazing camaraderie within a startup that's just fantastic to be in. I am doing my MBA right now, however, my hope and ambition is to get back into the fantastic environment of engineers and development and leading such wonderful people with a business sense. I am also willing to code anytime. =)

Here's to awesome startup technology firms. Kudos to Posterous.!!

Testing times

I have been MIA for sometime and it looks like this will be the case until the middle of December. I am taking an amazing course over the Fall trimester called Multinational Corporate Finance where as a team, we get to manage the financial operations of a (d'uh) Multinational Enterprise. It's challenging, interesting and I am learning a lot of cool new things.

Including how tough the life of a financial officer in such companies are. :)! You have tons of money to manage and your responsibility (if at all only) is to ensure that you don't DROP the money!!

First test

First test of the posterous account using email. Just to see if everything works.
